Sandra's still sunning herself in Turkey with her family, which has left me lots of time to concentrate on my own self image... improving my work at the gym with Kev, our personal trainer. I for one am determined to shift the flab and feel confident wearing a t-shirt or a narrow fitted shirt.
Meanwhile, somebody is happily drinking wine by the bottle and enjoying chocolate cake by the pool! (I know this because she sent me a picture message on her phone to me showing off her cake, and then another picture message minutes later showing an empty plate!) Disgraceful!
Kev says she might be just trying to wind me up and is actually running 5 miles down the beach every morning and working out in the hotel gym. Err.. I think not!
Every day this week at 6.30am I have been turning up for my hour of pain and suffering at the hands of Kev at the gym. Kev said that each day I would be working on different parts of my body. Well yesterday morning it was legs. It didn't seem too hard actually, lots of pushing and lifting sort of things. The last part of the workout was something I had never seen nor witnessed before... lunges. I'm not even sure if that's how you spell it! It's best described as something from the ministry of silly walks (old reference from Monty Pythons Flying Circus) whilst holding incredibly heavy dumbells! You really had to be there to see the funny side. Someone actually came up to us the other week and said "the only reason I come here now is to watch you two!" and walked off laughing! How rude!
The lunges didn't seem too bad... that is until 4.15am today! The pain woke me up, I wasn't sure what it was at first. I tried turning over but couldn't. I managed to get out of bed and crawl into the bathroom to take some painkillers. The pain is somewhat embarrassingly in my bottom, or to use the right words, my gluteus maximus!
For some obscure reason, I actually managed to get to the gym again this morning for another workout with Kev, although probably just to complain to him about how much my backside hurts! I limped through the doors and virtually crawled up the stairs, almost in tears! Kev seemed genuinely concerned for me, but I know he was laughing when I wasn't looking.
At the end of another grueling session, this time on my arms, I staggered out. Now for those of you who know which gym I use, you will know there is a lift. I've never seen anyone use the lift, and I think if I ever had to use it, it would be along side the friendly ambulance driver too! So, I slowly took each step at a time and it took me nearly five minutes to get down!

'gluteus maximus' muscles.
It's no surprise they're red!
Kev says they will hurt more tomorrow! Great, that's just what I needed to hear!
Do you have any tips for me on how to stop my muscles aching so much? Please let me know, as I seem to be the 'but' of everyone's jokes today!

Hi Adam, I used to use the gym all the time and know what you're going through! Best advice is to have a hot soak tonight with some Radox and maybe take some Ibubrofen and hope for the best! Good Luck!
